My goal is to prepare students for Computer science and related fields in college. I have taught computer science in the traditional boring way, this approach allows the students to get excited about the work. And when they are excited about the work, they work harder.

| Q: What is Video Game Programming? A: Video Game Programming is where people with a passion for gaming and have apt computer knowledge can come and learn to do things “outside of the box”. You will learn a multitude of computer programming tools, languages, methods, and life applications for your programs. You will solve problems the way real programmers do, and will progress in class at a college level pace. You can build all sorts of games, from text based dungeon crawlers, 2D Platformers, and 3D RPG’s, and even web based ideas. Did we forget to mention that it is the ONLY course of its kind in the entire state of Ohio? |

Q: Why Video Games? A: Why not? 9 out of 10 kids play video games. Almost 9 out of 10 kids use the internet on a regular basis. Research shows that learning new skills based off of previous abilities accelerate a student’s chance of success. So what does all this mean? Did you learn to ride a bike by using training wheels? Students with apt computer knowledge can advance their skills to an entry level programmer in about 1 year and in 2 years they can become a multi-language programmer with experience in many platforms. |
